We collect as little as we can, we don't sell data and we don't run ads. This page explains exactly what we keep and why.

Who is responsible
Chief Scout (Neutral Working), based in the Czech Republic, is the data controller for Chief Scout. Contact us about anything on this page at info@chief-scout.com.
What we collect, and why
If you sign in with Google
Your email address, a sign-in record and the comparison votes you cast. We use them to run your account and keep your votes. Legal basis: providing the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
Usage analytics, only if you allow it
If you choose Allow in the privacy banner, your browser keeps a random ID and we record which pages you open, in our own database, so we can see what works. If you decline or don't choose, no ID is stored and no usage events are sent. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time with “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page.
Server logs
Our host keeps standard request logs (IP address, page requested, time) for a short period to keep the site secure and working. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure service (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Data about footballers
Chief Scout publishes information about professional footballers: names, clubs, positions, dates of birth, career history, match statistics and news reports. It comes from public sources such as club and league websites, Wikipedia and Wikidata, and from licensed data providers. Our comparisons, roles and scores are editorial opinions about playing style.
We process this for football analysis and journalism, on the basis of legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). We don't publish private contact details, health records or private life. If you are a player, or act for one, you can ask us to correct, update or remove information, or object to its use, at info@chief-scout.com.
Your browser's storage
- Your privacy choice, so we don't ask again.
- The anonymous visitor ID, only after you allow analytics.
- Sign-in session, if you sign in, so you stay signed in.
- Display preferences such as filters.
We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Who processes data for us
Supabase: database and sign-in
Stores accounts, votes and site data on servers in the EU (Ireland).
Google: sign-in
Confirms your identity and shares your email address with us. We never see your Google password.
Vercel: hosting
Serves the website. Vercel is a US company; any transfer outside the EU is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
Account data and votes are kept while your account exists and deleted when you ask us to close it. Usage events are kept only as long as they help us improve the site. Server logs are kept for a few days to weeks by our host.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- show you the personal data we hold about you, or give you a copy;
- correct it, or delete it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- withdraw consent you have given, without affecting what happened before.
Email info@chief-scout.com and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Czech data protection authority (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.gov.cz) or the authority where you live.
Sign-in is for people aged 16 and over.
