Similar Players
Aji Alese plays most like Calvin Bassey. Their historical analogue is Jeremy Mathieu — Jérémy Mathieu — Valencia 2013-2014.
Current Analogue
Both can defend the left channel from centre-back or full-back and give build-up a left-footed route forward, using their athleticism in one-against-one situations.
Bassey's ball carrying is a more established part of his top-flight game; this does not assign the same progression output to Alese.

Historical Analogue
Alese's ability to work at left-back or left centre-back recalls Mathieu's Valencia transition into the centre, retaining a left-footed passing angle and the capacity to cover wide space.
Mathieu was further along in that role conversion; the comparison does not claim the same positional judgement or aerial output.
