Rúben Dias

Dias and Gabriel provide a forceful presence in central defence. Their comparison centres on confronting a forward and defending the penalty area through physical involvement, rather than assuming that every part of their build-up game is the same.

Kompany’s Manchester City 2011–14 phase provides a reference for Dias’s role as a defensive leader. The connection is a centre-back whose presence and responsibility help lead the back line; it is not a claim of equal achievements or identical passing.
