ClubBorussia Dortmund PositionStriker Born20 November 2004 The youngest to play in the Bundesliga at 16 years and one day, youngest player to appear in the Champions League 17 days later, youngest goal scorer in Bundesliga 11 days after that and youngest player and youngest goal scorer for the Germany under-21 team before he has turned 17 – Moukoko is a record machine. And he is not playing for a bottom-half Bundesliga team, no, he is part of traditional Champions League participants Borussia Dortmund and has scored three goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances at the age of 16. Born in Cameroon, Moukoko came to Germany at the age of 10, started to play football at St Pauli in Hamburg and two years later, Dortmund signed him. At youth level he simply outclassed everyone else and became part of the professional setup at the age of 15. He is fast and strong, with a good sense for when to make runs from deep. His positioning in the penalty area is superb and he can score with both feet. A future Germany international for sure but can he continue to rise the way he has so far? **Carsten Schröter-Lorenz, editor at [Kicker.de](https://www.kicker.de/)** [Watch Youssoufa Moukoko in action](https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2021/oct/07/”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJa7Yiiy9dM"_new") **September 2022 update** Injuries slowed his progress somewhat during the 2021-22 season but in the summer he said: “I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself. That’s what I’ve learned.” Further strengthen his bond with the Dortmund fans by scoring a late derby winner against Schalke in September. **October 2023 update** It feels preposterous to say that Moukoko's career has stagnated when he has 60 Bundesliga games and 12 goals at the age of 18, but such was his early impact that unreasonable expectations were heaped upon him. At the moment he is mainly an impact sub at Dortmund and, having made his Germany debut a week before the World Cup in Qatar, he played only a minute of the tournament itself as the team failed to get out of their group.
