The comparisons

A way to understand the player’s game.

Current Analogue

Facundo Medina

Marseille

BRSProgressor84

Left-sided defensive aggression

Why the comparison works

Hincapié and Medina combine left-footed progression with the ability to defend centrally or at left-back. Both can contest a duel outside the central lane and contribute to build-up.

Shared qualities

Left-sided progression
Centre-back and left-back deployment

Where it breaks down

Their use at left-back does not erase differences between defending in a pair and as an outside centre-back in a three.

Historical Analogue

Kakhaber Kaladze

Milan 2001-2006

Genuine left-back and centre-back range

Why the comparison works

Hincapié’s left-sided defensive range recalls Kaladze at Milan in 2001–06. Milan’s account distinguishes Kaladze’s initial left-back use from his later central-defensive role.

Shared qualities

Left-sided defending
Established central-defensive use

Where it breaks down

This is a comparison of legitimate defensive roles, not an assertion that occasional outside-centre-back use makes every attacking full-back equivalent.

A style reference for this phase, not a prediction of Piero Hincapié’s ceiling.
