Why is Ben White similar to Vedran Corluka (Vedran Corluka — Tottenham 2008-2011)?

Why the comparison works

Right-back cover from a centre-back's toolkit

White's right-back role after a centre-back start recalls Ćorluka at Tottenham in 2008–11, listed at both positions. Ćorluka's full 90 minutes at right-back in the 1-0 win at Blackburn in February 2011, covering for the injured Hutton, is an in-phase example. The comparison concerns legitimate right-sided defensive range, not equal standing.

Shared qualities

Right-back and centre-back use
Defending the right channel

Where it breaks down

White's current Arsenal role is attack-minded, with frequent overlapping runs, whereas Ćorluka's sourced Spurs strength is one-on-one defending rather than forward running.

A style reference for this phase, not a prediction of Ben White’s ceiling.
