Alan Shearer — Blackburn Rovers 1993-1996
Blackburn Rovers
Gyökeres' use of strength to hold the ball up and then finish connects with Shearer's Blackburn 1993–96 phase. Shearer's 34 league goals in the 1994–95 title season and his hat-trick against Coventry in September 1995 are in-phase examples. The comparison concerns a power-based No 9 role, not matching Shearer's scoring rate.
Shearer's phase evidence stresses heading and a fixed front-two partnership with Sutton, while Gyökeres is a lone striker whose sourced game also includes runs into space behind defences.
A style reference for this phase, not a prediction of Viktor Gyökeres’s ceiling.
